Wildlands Forever Trust, Inc.
…was created in December 2002 as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida, whose mission is the preservation, protection and enhancement of North American wildlands, natural and living resources, future generations and their citizens.
Wildlands Forever Trust is dedicated to the creation and/or expansion of local and national parks to ensure their perpetual ecological and evolutionary processes with the strongest long-term protection guarantee possible.
Florida’s wild lands provide homes to many diverse plant and animal species, some quite unique to particular locations. Over the last few decades, wild lands have been heavily affected by an extensive land development and water use. The result were hundreds of endangered species and compromised water resources. Wild lands restoration and conservation has been recognized as an environmental priority. For that purpose, the State Florida started two of the largest programs in the United States – public land acquisition and wetland restoration programs.
But, the law itself no matter how thoughtful and generous, isn’t enough without the effort of dedicated people. Conserving the natural resources and heritage of the Florida ecosystem continues to require more individuals and organizations that are not indifferent to the changing environment. Increasing numbers of organizations and individuals are necessary to protect our heritage.
There is no doubt that whatever we do has an impact on the environment. Different ecosystems which have been developing for hundreds of years are fragile and every human interference leaves indelible permanent marks. To try to minimize and offset those damages and save as much of those natural ecosystems is a continuous dedicated mission which importance addresses every day more and more people. What we once took as granted, needs now our help and protection. The heritage we leave for our children depends on how successful we will be in this effort.
